Carousel at Woodland Park Zoo

Ride the Historic Carousel*

9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

$2 a ride in addition to zoo admission

Enjoy rides on the classic, hand-carved wooden carousel horses.

Willawong Station bird feeding

Entry to Willawong Station is free with zoo admission; *seed sticks are $1 each, cash only.

This popular walk-through bird feeding experience transports you to the world of the Australian parrot and the Australian grasslands habitat. Willawong Station is a fun opportunity for the whole family to get up close and feed birds in a controlled, safe environment while learning about responsible care for birds both in the wild and at home. The aviary includes approximately 100 free-flying birds, primarily small colorful Australian parrots.

Tiger Enrichment

Location: Banyan Wilds
9:45 a.m. daily except Tuesdays

Zookeepers do a lot of things to make the lives of our animals more interesting, adding new things to their environment such as smells, objects or new food items. Watch while the tigers explore today’s enrichment!

Wildlife Survival Zone Activities

Giraffe Feeding Experience*

Location: African Savanna
10:00 - 11:00 a.m. & 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. daily except Tuesdays

Get close to giraffes as you feed them on a raised platform in the African Savanna, and learn how you are saving wild giraffes. Due to appetites, giraffes might not feed.

Cost: $5 per person, cash only; children 5 and under free with paying adult.

Sloth bears love to eat insects, and they have a unique way of catching them - they suck the bugs out of their nest! How strong is that suction? Come and find out!

Here’s your chance to learn more about birds of prey. Keepers will introduce you to our resident raptors while demonstrating their impressive flying and hunting skills. A must see!

Yes, we mean you! This fun-filled program highlights the great care we take of our animals through positive training and rewards. We’ll show you how clicker training works for zoo animals and your pets at home too. We’ll also look at the different types of enrichment we provide our diverse collection of animals and how animals can enrich our own lives!

How do zookeepers check a monkey’s teeth? Tails? Tummies? Come and find out! Training our animals makes it easier to take care of them—for the monkeys as well as the keepers—and it’s fun!

Watch keepers engage safely with such powerful animals to ensure the tigers are healthy and strong.

 

 ZOOMAZIUM | Appropriate for ages 0-8 years and their caregivers

NOTE: Zoomazium is closed temporarily Sept. 22 - 25, 2015 for annual maintenance.

Kids 8 and under and their caregivers love Zoomazium! The indoor, nature play space offers play and learning in a fun, safe and stimulating environment all year long. Here, kids can connect with animals, habitats and more through the natural language of childhood—play! Crawl through a hidden cave. Climb a giant strangler fig tree. Enjoy daily programs for toddlers and older children. Free with zoo admission.

Children can get up close with live, furred, feathered or scaly animals. Meet the star from a puppet story. Practice observation skills to discover who’s in the Mystery Box. Design a play space for a curious creature and watch as it explores.

Investigate shells, plants, fossils, minerals and the fun of collecting! Bring in your drawings, photos, research or cool nature items or pick up an activity to do while you visit the zoo - tell us what you learned!  You can earn points to trade for the natural items in our ever-changing collection.
