Zoo Experiences: October 1, 2015-April 30, 2016

Programs are free with zoo admission, except as noted. Locations of programs are posted at the zoo’s South Entrance (N. 50th St. & Fremont Ave. N.) and West Entrance (Phinney Ave. N. between N. 55th & N. 56th Sts.). All programs are subject to cancellation due to weather or animal availability.

Rainy Day Discount

Before you head to the zoo, go to zoo.org/rainyday and check if a Rainy Day Discount coupon has been posted for the day. Rainy Day Discounts are available on select days, depending upon weather forecasts and projected attendance. When offered, discount coupons are good for 50% off on all regular admissions to the zoo, limit four admissions per coupon. Discounts cannot be combined with other discounts or offers, and are good only for the day indicated on the coupon. Offer not valid for WildLights admission. Present a printed coupon or show the coupon on your phone at the gate.

Willawong Station bird feeding

Willawong Station - The Walk-through Bird Experience

9:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. daily

Travel to the world of the Australian parrot and the Australian grasslands habitat. Willawong Station is a fun opportunity for the whole family to get up close in a controlled, safe environment.  On weekends, holidays and school breaks, seed sticks are available to feed the birds for $1 each, cash only.  The aviary includes approximately 70 free-flying birds, primarily small colorful Australian parrots.

Historic Carousel

10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Monday-Friday;
9:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Weekends & Holidays


Enjoy rides on the classic, hand-carved wooden carousel horses.

Cost: $2, in addition to zoo admission.

Keeper Talk

Penguin Feeding Experience

11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. daily

Feed our tuxedo-clad birds! For $5, feed the zoo’s Humboldt penguins a handful of tasty fish and experience these endangered birds hand to beak. Feeding is subject to cancellation due to weather or penguins’ appetites.

Kids 8 and under and their caregivers love Zoomazium! The indoor, nature play space offers play and learning in a fun, safe and stimulating environment all year long. Families can connect with animals, habitats and more, indoors and out in Zoomazium’s Backyard. For even more fun at the zoo, check out our new family science exploration backpacks too!

Get up close to live, furred, feathered or scaly animals. Morning programs are geared toward toddlers and afternoon programs are suited for preschool and older.

Join our toddler dance party in Zoomazium! Toddlers and caregivers are invited to sing, dance, and play instruments to animal and nature-themed music.
