Teen volunteer program at Woodland Park Zoo
If you are interested in engaging in conservation action through learning, teaching and connecting with other teens from around the city, then ZooCorps is for you!
ZooCorps offers teens a unique opportunity to increase their knowledge of animals and habitats, expand their conservation awareness, and develop useful job skills in a collaborative and fun learning environment at the Zoo and in the community.
Teach zoo visitors of all ages about animals*, their habitats and conservation efforts
Participate in conservation projects in the zoo and out in the community
Gain experience in visitor engagements, education, teamwork, leadership and job skills
Volunteer year-round and receive on-going education and training
Engage in conservation action opportunities (including habitat restoration, citizen science and climate change projects) with other teens from around the city
Are important members of Woodland Park Zoo's community
*Note: hands-on contact and direct work with animals IS NOT a key feature of the volunteer program
Be at least 14 years of age and in the 9th or 10th grade by the time of application
Able to attend the mandatory training dates listed below:
- March 21 (Orientation with parents/guardians)
- March 28, April 4, April, 18, April 25, May 9 and May 16
- AND one of the following: May 17, May 23 or May 24
Able to commit to 5 days of service per month during the summer* (June - August) and 2 days of service per month during the school year (September - May)
*Note: After your first full year of service, summer service requirements are reduces to 4 days per month

Please review the program eligibility requirements and training dates before proceeding with the application. The online application and TWO recommendations forms must be submitted by JANUARY 18, 2015. If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted by February 1, 2015. No phone calls please.
2015 ZooCorps Volunteer Application
All applicants must also have two references submit recommendation forms (found below). References may include teachers, coaches, volunteer coordinators, supervisors or other adults who know the applicant well (no family members).
