EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS

 

Young Explorers

Young Explorers child and parent

Learn to engage your child’s wonder and curiosity about nature. During our one hour adventure become a parent naturalist. Exploring a natural, outdoor area at the zoo, you will learn to guide your child in nature play, explore natural play stations, hear a puppet story, and even meet a live zoo animal. Grown-ups must come ready to play! Class is rain or shine; please dress appropriately. We will not be touring zoo grounds during this class, but encourage you to do so after the program.

Fee: $20 per adult/child pair, $7 each additional family member 2-5 years
Ages: Adults and children 2-5 years

Zoo Sprouts 

Early Childhood Parent and Child

Whether you are new to the zoo or visit weekly, a Zoo Sprouts class is a chance for you and your child together to spend time with other animal lovers, including a special zoo guide who will help you get to know our amazing animals even better. Each hour and a half adventure will start in the classroom with activities exploring the amazing world of animals through movement, creative play, stories, art and songs. Next, your guide will lead you on a journey of discovery to learn more about zoo animals relating to the class theme.


Ages:
Adults and children 3-5 years
Fee:
$25 per adult/child pair, $10 each additional family member 3-5 years

  Spring Session


3235: May 7, 10-11:30 a.m. Lions- FULL
Lions like to sleep for almost 20 hours a day and their roar can be heard from more that 5 miles away.  What else do lions do? Join us as we pounce, stalk and roar in our own lion pride! Learn more about our lion family and visit them at their exhibit.

3245: May 14, 10-11:30 a.m. Tigers- FULL
Seeing stripes? We are too! Come meet our newest big cats at the zoo. Did you know that like our fingerprints, no two tigers have the same stripe pattern? Join us to welcome our brand new Malayan tigers to their exhibit.

3255: May 21, 10-11:30 a.m. ...And Bears Oh My!- FULL
Brown bear, brown bear what do you see? I see a sloth bear looking at me.  Come see the zoo's two species with your own eyes. One type eats insects and sucks them up into its mouth like a straw... the other has a muscular hump between the shoulders to help dig their winter dens. Find out who is who in this bear-y fun class.

Registration

All registration confirmations are sent via e-mail and will come to you from an address ending in @zoo.org. Please make sure to read your confirmation and all attachements. Please contact us if you do not receive a registration confirmation.

Need to make changes to or cancel an existing registration? Call 206-548-2424. Changes and cancellations cannot be done through our online registration process.

Changes and cancellations are allowed up to two (2) weeks in advance of the program start date.
