Decade Report
Welcome to Creating a 21st Century Wonder: Ten Years of Raising the Bar 2002-2011, a celebration of our first decade operating the zoo as a charitable nonprofit for the City of Seattle under a 20-year management agreement.
Most importantly, this is a story about the passion and talents of hundreds of zoo professionals, amazing volunteers, and a devoted Board of Directors who are leading innovations in naturalistic exhibitry and modern animal care; increasing access to science and nature inquiry for youths, teachers and families; and deepening our impact in wildlife conservation here and around the globe. Please share this publication with your friends, family and colleagues.
Above all, we owe our achievements to the generosity and loyalty of our members, supporters, sponsors and business partners who, over the decade, have helped the zoo engage more than 11 million people in the wonders of wildlife and foster a sustainable future for all living beings.
