Join Thrive co-chairs Jill Walker and Kevin Schofield for a fast-paced morning of good food, great company and a stimulating presentation exploring the links between animal health and well-being with human health. Learn how Woodland Park Zoo plays a vital role in environmental research and conservation, while working to keep landscapes, people and animals healthy all over the world. Keynote speaker Dr. Barbara Natterson-Horowitz, is a Professor of Cardiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and best-selling author of Zoobiquity: The Astonishing Connection Between Human and Animal Health. Zoobiquity, explores how human and animal commonalities can be used to diagnose, treat, and heal humans. The inspiration for her work came while she was serving as a consultant to the Los Angeles Zoo, as a member of its medical Advisory Board. Dr. Natterson-Horowitz completed her undergraduate studies at Harvard College and received a Master’s degree from Harvard University. She received her medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, The Guardian, Wall Street Journal, Nature, Scientific American, and New Scientist, among others. Step back in time to when prehistoric giants ruled the Earth with the return of Dinosaur Discovery. Encounter 26 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs as the Habitat Discovery Loop transforms into beautiful prehistoric forest ‘Dinosaur Discovery’.
