Becca - Instructor

Hi there! My name is Becca and I’m excited to work at Woodland Park Zoo this summer! I graduated with a degree in Zoology from Kentucky Wesleyan College, and have worked as a Naturalist previously. I just moved to Washington from the Chicago area and I’m thrilled to be here! I like to hike, bike, sing, play the piano, and explore all that Washington has to offer. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone, and creating a summer full of fun and new experiences!

Britton - Assistant

Good day! My name is Britton and I am very excited about being part of Zooper Day camp for the zoo this summer! I am studying to be a conservation biologist at SUNY Environmental Sciences and Forestry, and plan to work with humans and animals in my future career. I have a HUGE passion for scaly reptiles and slimy amphibians, and I love teaching others about these amazing critters. I look forward to making many memories with you all!

Deabra - Instructor

Hey all! I’m Deabra and this is my first summer at WPZ. I just moved to Seattle from Mississippi, and it’s been a blast. I have a B.S. in Biology, and love science, kids, and the great outdoors. I previously worked at a preschool and last summer as a cave tour guide in South Dakota. I love traveling, but also curling up on the couch to watch a great movie or read a good book. I’m excited to teach and learn from you this summer. Let’s make it a great one!

Elizabeth - Instructor

Hello! My name is Elizabeth, and this will be my third year working at Woodland Park Zoo with the Zooper Day Camp, and my seventh as a camp counselor! I’m currently a junior at Western Washington University, where I am studying geology, and my favorite animals at the zoo are the snakes and the orangutans. I’m so excited to be back at the zoo and at camp, and I cannot wait to be teaching, learning, and having fun along with you this summer!

Erin - Assistant

Hello! My name is Erin and I am so excited to spend my summer learning and teaching others about animals. I just graduated from Wittenberg University with a degree in Biology and a minor in Marine Science. I worked as an education intern for whale watches last summer and it was a joy to teach people about whales and other marine animals. I love to hike, bike, run, travel, and read in my spare time. I can’t wait to meet everyone and have some fun!

Greta - Instructor

Hello! My name is Greta, and I’m an environmental educator. After graduating from Wesleyan University, I worked at the Grafton Nature Museum in Vermont. Since then, I’ve worked on the Puget Sound, in Alaska, Florida, and most recently at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans. There, I was a Head Counselor for summer camp and continued on as a Guest Engagement Educator. I love teaching kids about helping our wildlife, and am excited to be joining WPZ this summer.

Katie - Instructor

Hello! My name is Katie, and this is my first summer with Woodland Park Zoo. I’m a graduate student at the UW studying biological oceanography, so feel free to ask me about the ocean! I originally grew up on the island of Roatan in the Caribbean, and did my B.S. in Earth Sciences in upstate NY. I like to hike, dance, and juggle (as well as to play board games!) I’m very excited to be at camp this summer, and I can’t wait to meet you all!

Camp staff

Kaye - Instructor

Hi! I’m Kaye and I'm returning this summer as a Zooper Day Camp instructor. I am so excited to spend my summer at the zoo talking about animals, making things, and playing outside. When I am not at the zoo I am usually running, hiking, camping, playing music or talking about science! I hope to study a life science in college! See you this summer at the zoo!

Jared - Instructor

Hello! My name is Jared, and I’m excited to be an instructor for Zooper Camp this summer. I graduated college with a degree in Environmental Studies, and since then I have been working as an Outdoor and Environmental Educator. My jobs have allowed me to work and teach children in Los Angeles, Monterey, and most recently, Gig Harbor. I also love to hike, camp, read, and play sports. I look forward to a summer full of learning and awesome experiences!

       Maddie - Assistant

Hey, I’m Maddie! This is my first summer at the zoo, and I am super excited for it. I recently graduated with a degree in Education from Principia College. Working with kids is my passion, and the zoo is such an exciting place to learn and grow. I grew up in Minnesota with a family of seven, and I love to travel. When I’m not at the zoo, I am normally exploring Seattle or finding new coffee shops to visit.

Madison - Instructor

Hi, my name is Madison! I cannot wait to spend all summer with you at the zoo, (dreams DO come true)! I recently graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in Ecology, and you may have seen me earlier this year at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park and the Seattle Aquarium. I love working with children, and have been a gymnastics coach for over 5 years. I am so excited for all the fun adventures we will find here at Woodland Park Zoo!

Michael - Assistant

Hi, I’m Michael. I’m excited to be returning to WPZ camps as a new staff member. I started camp when I was in kindergarten, and had such a great time; I came back every summer until middle school. Afterwards, I was a CIT for several years. Now, I’m a student at Central Washington University studying Primate Behavior and Anthropology. I also like playing the cello and singing, though what I love most is exploring the outdoors and trying new life experiences.

    Millie - Assistant

Hi, my name is Millie, and I am overjoyed to be at camp again this summer! I am from Oak Harbor on beautiful Whidbey Island, and I am studying Medical Anthropology & Global Health and Nutritional Sciences at UW. I’m extremely passionate about the environment, education, and sports medicine. When I’m not studying for classes you can find me playing volleyball, painting, or adventuring in the great outdoors. Also, I especially love Snow Leopards!

Rachel - Assistant

Hi! I’m Rachel and this is my first summer as a Zooper Day Camp assistant. Last year, I earned my BS in Environmental Science from Humboldt State University in California and made the move to Seattle. I’m excited to get to know the campers and share my love of nature with them! I have previously worked for the National Park Service and the California State Parks. I also enjoy visiting museums, crafting, drawing, hiking, and discovering the beautiful PNW!

     Roxanne – Assistant

Hi, I’m Roxanne! I’ve always loved animals, and the zoo was my favorite place to be as a child. I attended camp every summer, until I volunteered as a CIT. I couldn’t be more excited to be an assistant instructor! The zoo has always been like a second home to me, and I’ve just finished my first year at WSU as a Wildlife Ecology and Conservation major! I look forward to giving the campers the same magical experiences I had as a camper!

Sam - Assistant

Hello! I’m Sam, and I’m excited for my first summer with Zooper here at WPZ! I volunteered at the zoo for three years with ZooCorps, and ran activities like Creature Features and Puppet Shows in Zoomazium last summer. I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember, and I can’t wait to share my knowledge and passion for nature. Currently, I am studying Biology at the UW.  I can't wait to meet you all. Let’s have an awesome summer together!

Shelby - Assistant

Hi! My name is Shelby. I just finished my second year of college at the University of Montana, where I study Fish and Wildlife Biology and Natural Resources. I worked as a Zooper Day Camp Assistant last summer and am so excited to return this summer. I can’t wait to meet you all! I love nature, wildlife, the outdoors, and of course, teaching kids! When I'm not teaching, I'm usually out fishing and hiking, but I love a great book and a good cup of tea!

Tiffany - Instructor

Hello! I’m Tiffany and am excited to be at the zoo this summer. I enjoy sharing the experience of the outdoors with others. I graduated from CSU, Monterey Bay with a degree in marine science. I have previously worked at a science camp in the Florida Keys. I like how camp exposes kids to the natural environment and gets them out of the classroom. I enjoy hiking, exploring, being outdoors, communicating science, and traveling. I’m looking forward to having FUN!
