Animal Encounters

Family Farm Contact Area

Temperate Forest, near South Entrance

10:00 a.m. – noon & 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Daily, (Closed noon – 1:00 p.m.)

Is a goat soft? How does a sheep want to be touched? Pet a selection of domestic farm animals and learn more about them in supervised areas at the Family Farm.

 

Savanna Experience*

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Daily
(closed Tuesdays)

*Cost: $15 per person, ages 3+

Step into the heart of the savanna without ever leaving Seattle! This immersive experience offers a sweeping 180-degree view of the savanna and its awe-inspiring residents—giraffes, zebras, gazelles, and ostriches (or what we like to call savannimals). You’ll enjoy a private keeper talk filled with fascinating insights into these animals’ lives and get answers to all your burning questions. To top it off, you’ll have the chance to snap photos up close with any animals near the fence. The full experience runs about 20 minutes and delivers big adventure in a short, unforgettable window.

 

Rhino Encounter*

1:00 – 1:30 p.m. Daily
(closed Tuesdays)

*Cost: $15 per person, ages 3+

Get ready to meet Glenn, our incredible one-horned wonder! This exclusive experience brings you face-to-face with one of the zoo’s most majestic residents. You’ll enjoy a private keeper talk where you’ll learn all about rhino behavior, care, and conservation—and have the chance to ask any rhino-related questions you’ve ever wondered about. Then, wrap it all up with an unforgettable photo op just feet away from Glenn himself. The entire encounter lasts about 20 minutes and is perfect for guests who want to connect with wildlife in a truly wild way.
