SUPPORTERS

The Tree Kangaroo Conservation Program depends on a large network of people and organizations to help us accomplish our work in Papua New Guinea. Many of our supporters are long-time partners and friends, and we sincerely thank you for your dedication and contribution.

YUS Conservation Endowment

In the case of many protected areas around the globe, a lack of long-term funding leaves an area protected in name only. Without funds to enforce regulations or provide communities with incentives for local conservation, a protected area's conservation value can be lost due to encroachment and resource extraction.

TKCP and the Woodland Park Zoo are proud to have established the YUS Conservation Endowment together with Conservation International’s Global Conservation Fund. Established in 2012, the Endowment is housed and managed by the Woodland Park Zoo Board of Directors. The Endowment now provides partial annual funding support to the local NGO, TKCP-PNG, for the management and protection of the YUS Conservation Area in perpetuity. TKCP is grateful to all of our supporters who have helped us create the Endowment and thereby invest in the long-term sustainability of the YUS wildlife, people, and landscape.

We continue to build the YUS Conservation Endowment. Please contact us if you are interested in contributing to the YUS Conservation Endowment.

Individual Supporters

Without the support of our dedicated friends and colleagues with a passion for protecting tree kangaroos and their unique habitat, the story of YUS would be very different. From its earliest days the Tree Kangaroo Conservation Program has been built upon individual relationships and connections among people, as is the tradition in Papua New Guinean culture. TKCP is honored to play a role in connecting people across vast oceans in our collective effort to protect one of the world’s greatest natural treasures and support its local stewards.

Foundations & Organizations

TKCP continually seeks to build partnerships with charitable foundations and funding organizations who share a common mission and philosophy for holistic community-based wildlife conservation and sustainable living. Through grants and annual operating support, these partnerships provide crucial financial resources to carry out our core programs and explore innovative new methods for conservation management and community development. Their extensive networks and knowledge bases also provide valuable opportunities to learn from and share our experiences with other programs throughout the globe.

If your foundation is interested in partnering with us to address conservation threats and community needs in YUS, please contact us for our current plans and priorities.

Zoos & Institutions

Since its roots as a conservation research endeavor, TKCP's work in Papua New Guinea has been guided and supported by the generous contributions of Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) institutions involved in the AZA Tree Kangaroo Species Survival Plan (TK-SSP).

The YUS Conservation Area (YUS CA) in Papua New Guinea is a remarkable achievement for an AZA Species Survival Plan-sponsored program and demonstrates the powerful role zoos play in species and habitat conservation around the globe. TKCP's operations and activities supporting long-term management of the YUS CA depend on the ongoing support of our AZA, Australasian Zoo Aquarium Association, Asian Association of Zoos and Aquariums, European Association of Zoos & Aquariums (EAZA), and TK-SSP partners.

Please see our Annual Reports for a complete list of our current and previous TKCP supporters.
