A Woodland Park Zoo Community Science Program
The Bat Activity Trends (BAT) program involves going out to observe bats, right in your own neighborhood. You can participate from a yard, patio, balcony or even a window with a clear view of the sky!

Join Bats Northwest, Green Tukwila, and Woodland Park Zoo for a lively workshop where you’ll learn about our local bat species, discover fun facts, and find your BFF (Bat Friend Forever!) through a fun, fast-paced, speed dating model. Not only will you learn about bats, but you will also find ways to make a difference in the lives of these magnificent mammals. No live bats will be present at this event.
Tukwila wants Bat Stewards:Are you interested in taking it to the next level? Green Tukwila wants Bat Stewards, folks who report bat sightings over the summer. If you are interested in community science and supporting bats, this is an easy way to get data to the science community. We will talk more at the event!

The sun sets at 9:06pm so hopefully the Green Lake sky will have some bats flying above us. This program is free and open to everyone, no registration needed. Look for volunteers at the Seattle Public Theater Bath house near Green Lake’s or our Bats Northwest signage and table just northwest of the Bathhouse (this program lasts 1.5-2 hours depending on the weather and the bats). Please bring your own chairs, if you would like to sit during the event.

Join Bats Northwest and Woodland Park Zoo to collect bat data at Green Lake in Seattle. Community scientists (like you!) will help collect important data about where bats are and aren’t living in the city. We will teach you how to count bat activity (which involves leisurely watching the summer sky for 30 mintues after sunset), and we will capture bat sound recordings to share with you! Registration will be required for this event and a sign up form is forthcoming - for now mark your calendar! The sun sets at 8:44pm so hopefully the Green Lake sky will have some bats flying above us. Look for volunteers at the Seattle Public Theater Bath house near Green Lake’s or our Bats Northwest signage and table just northwest of the Bathhouse (this program lasts 1.5-2 hours depending on the weather and the bats). The Bellevue Parks & Community Service’s is partnering with Bats Northwest for a Bat walk and presentation at Kelsey Creek Farm in Bellevue. Come discover bats and the importance they play in ecology. After dusk scan the sky above the farm and use a bat detector to see and hear the resident bats. Appropriate for teenager and adults; children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration recommended but not required.
