FIELD TRIPS

WELCOME BACK

Scheduling Your 2021 Field Trip

We're delighted to welcome schools back to the zoo! Please read below for the information you'll need and to register.

The 2021 education rate is $6.75 per person, including students, chaperones, and teachers. If your school is located in King County and has at least 30% of its students eligible for free/reduced lunch, financial assistance is available. Application for assistance is included in the registration process.

To be eligible for the education rate, groups must:

  • Be coming for an educational purpose (including homeschool groups, preK-12th schools, colleges, out-of-school camps, daycare centers and senior groups).
  • Make reservations at least three weeks in advance.
  • Have a minimum of one adult chaperone (teacher or parent/guardian, age 21+) for every six students.  Groups of college age and older participants do not require chaperones. Note: Please do not include 1:1 aides/para-educators in your chaperone count. Please contact us for more information on 1:1 aides and chaperone requirements.
  • Chaperone students (regardless of age/grade) at all times while on zoo grounds.
  • Agree to follow Woodland Park Zoo’s Rules of Conduct.
  • Pre-pay by credit card at the time of registration, or if you need to pay by check, do so in one transaction on arrival at the zoo.

If you do not meet the above criteria, you may be eligible for the Group Rate.

Prepare for a Successful Visit

  • If you did not pre-pay by credit card during registration, be prepared with your single check written for the full amount when you arrive. Groups must pay in one transaction to receive the education rate. Groups that are not prepared to pay in one transaction will be required to pay full price.
  • Review zoo rules of conduct with students and chaperones.
  • Prepare chaperones with the Zoo Visit Chaperone Sheet.
  • Print zoo maps for chaperones (maps will not be available at the zoo).
  • Check the Accessibility Guide for family bathrooms, trail conditions for wheelchairs, and more! You will have an opportunity during online registration to share any specific accommodations your group requires.
  • For up-to-date information on exhibit closures, please review the Notes to Visitors.
  • See which daily programs and activities are offered during your visit.
  • Review the Planning a Sustainable Zoo Experience Guide for information and suggestions for an environmentally-friendly field trip.
