Program Overview

What: Wild Wise is Woodland Park Zoo's award-winning, statewide outreach program. Wild Wise offers both in-class as well as outdoor options.

In the classroom program, a high-impact, multi-media, interactive presentation led by zoo naturalists educates students about Washington's wildlife. We take students on "virtual visits" to five Washington habitats, with activities that sharpen their natural science skills by making observations, taking field notes, and sketching wildlife. Students learn how geography, math, art and science have exciting applications in the world outside the classroom.

Our outdoor programs are flexible, fun, and highly interactive. Your choices of location are very broad, ranging from local watershed projects, to wildlife refuges, to spectacular national parks. Our zoo naturalists offer expert interpretation in fun ways, creating an unforgettable experience.

Testimonials

Wild Wise in the Field"Thank you for coming all the way to Colville to educate us about wildlife. Our class felt very privileged to learn about the world around us and found it very inspiring. Thank you for the waterproof field notebooks. We enjoyed the presentation you gave because we learned about animals from all over the state. We had an exciting experience and a fun time. Hopefully you can share this program with many other classes."

--Teacher, Fifth Grade, Colville, WA

Wild Wise in the Classroom"It was a lot of fun learning about wildlife in this interactive way! I really learned a lot about the habitats in Washington, and how important it is for all the animals here in the NW. I liked the part when you taught us how we can help threatened species that are native to our area. I am so thankful that we had this experience..."
