Animal Programs


 

Penguin Keeper Chat 

1:00 p.m. Sundays
Humboldt penguin exhibit

Learn more about our endangered Humboldt penguins and about where they live here at the zoo and in the wild.

Elephant Keeper Chat

2:00 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays
Elephant Barn

Learn about the zoo's magnificent elephants from those who care for them. Discover how the zoo supports elephant conservation in the wild and what you can do to help.

Willawong Station Chat

11:30 a.m. Saturdays
Willawong Station

How do zoo staff count and care for all the birds in Willawong Station? Here's your chance to find out! Training the birds helps staff -- and keeps the day interesting for the birds.

Gorilla Keeper Chat

11:30 a.m. Fridays     
Gorilla exhibit

Did you know that gorillas are more closely related to humans than they are to orangutans? Meet a keeper and learn more about these intriguing and magnificent animals.

Zoomazium Programs       

Creature Feature

10:30 a.m. daily
Zoomazium

Get up close to live furred, feathered or scaly animals.Meet the star from a puppet story. Practice observation skills to discover who's i the Mystery Box. Design a play space for a curious creature and watch as it explores. Morning programs are geared toward toddlers and afternoon programs are suited for pre-school and older.

Shake, Rattle & Roar

11:30 a.m. daily
Zoomazium

Toddlers and caregivers are invited to sing, dance and play instruments to animal and nature-themed music.

 

Nature Exchange

1:00-3:00 p.m. daily
Zoomazium

Staff at Nature Exchange love to hear about the exciting things children see in nature and at the zoo. Bring in drawings, photos, research or coll nature items and earn points to trade for the natural items in our ever-changing collection.

Puppet Show   

3:45 p.m. daily (lasts approximately 5 minutes)
Zoomazium

Animal puppets tell stories and sing songs. Participants are invited up to dance and meet the puppets after the show.
