Back-to-School-themed treats for the orangutans

What:       
Get excited about going back to school! Watch as Woodland Park Zoo’s orangutans receive sack lunches, writing implements (chalk) and more to usher in the zoo’s upcoming back-to-school-themed weekend. On Saturday-Sunday, September 8 and September 9, the zoo will feature animals throughout the zoo enjoying items such as sack lunches, textbooks, globes and more.
 
The special treats are part of the zookeepers’ ongoing efforts to help enrich the lives of the zoo’s animals, promote natural animal behavior, keep animals mentally stimulated and provide added enjoyment for zoo visitors.
 
Additionally on Saturday and Sunday, the elephant and raptor keepers will demonstrate some of the operant training techniques they use to teach their animals new behaviors.

When:  
Photo op at orangutans: Thursday, September 6, 11:00 a.m.

Back-to-School treats at the zoo: Saturday, September 8 and Sunday, September 9, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m..

Whrer:
Enter the zoo through the ARC near the West Entrance at N. 55th St. & Phinney Ave. N. Staff will escort you to the orangutan exhibit at the Trail of Vines. The ARC is a locked building; enter through the West Entrance if you are late and proceed to the orangutan exhibit.
