SEATTLE - Seattle-based HomeStreet Bank joins with Woodland Park Zoo, Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, Oregon Zoo and the Honolulu Zoo Society for a fourth year of “Wild About Zoos,” a three-month promotion supporting zoo programs and operations. From April 1 through June 30, HomeStreet Bank will donate $10 to the zoos for every bank account, mortgage, loan and insurance policy opened at branches in Washington, Oregon and Hawaii.

To date, HomeStreet has contributed more than $180,000 to the Northwest zoos through the Wild About Zoos program. 2005 marks the first year that HomeStreet Bank, which operates in Washington, Oregon and Hawaii, expands the program to include the Honolulu Zoo Society.

As part of Wild About Zoos, HomeStreet is also offering “Ten for You, Ten for the Zoo,” a special savings account for children 18 and under. When a child’s savings account is opened for $50 or more, HomeStreet adds $10 to the child’s account and donates $10 to the regional zoo.

“ Our zoos are involved in a wide variety of education and conservation initiatives, in addition to operating parks that are treasured by our communities,” said Kathryn Williams, HomeStreet Bank community relations director. “A commitment by the business community helps ensure the preservation of our parks and open spaces for future generations. We are happy to be able to play a part in that effort.”

HomeStreet Bank is one of the largest privately-owned banks in the Northwest. For more than 80 years, HomeStreet has partnered with local organizations through employee volunteer service, charitable contributions, products and services and sponsorships. Each year, HomeStreet donates at least two percent of pre-tax profits to organizations in the community.

Accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association, award-winning Woodland Park Zoo is famed for pioneering naturalistic exhibits and setting a standard for zoos all over the world. The zoo is helping to save endangered species in Washington state and around the world. By inspiring visitors and others to care and act, Woodland Park Zoo is making a difference in our planet’s future.
