What:
Woodland Park Zoo and the American Zoo and Aquarium Association (AZA) have teamed up to bring zoo visitors information about tropical rain forests, rain forest plants and animals, and the importance of rain forests to people around the world. The guide through this interactive Rainforest Adventure is Aza (A-zah), the AZA’s new ambassador to the natural world. Amazingly, every trip through the maze is a different experience. Children and adults alike will discover many ways to help protect the rain forest and learn about Woodland Park Zoo’s and the AZA’s role in worldwide conservation.

Visitors will descend through the four layers of a Mesoamerican rain forest as they discover hidden habitats teeming with biodiversity. They will be asked to answer rain forest questions to find their way through the maze. Eventually they will reach the Biosphere Reserve at the heart of the rain forest featuring diverse species and more hands-on activities. Visitors will then exit the maze with a new understanding of the rain forest and a feeling of connectedness with the animals that flourish there.

When:
July 16 through September 6, 2004

Where:
Aza’s Maze: Rainforest Adventure is located near the West Gate of the zoo at N. 55th St. & Phinney Ave. N. adjacent to the Rain Forest Food Pavilion.
