Seattle: Seattle-based HomeStreet Bank, Woodland Park Zoo, Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium and Oregon Zoo have joined together for a third year of “Wild About Zoos,” a three-month promotion supporting zoo programs and operations. From May 1 through July 31, HomeStreet Bank will donate $10 to the zoos for every bank account, mortgage, loan and insurance policy opened at branches in Washington and Oregon.

Last year, Wild About Zoos raised $77,770 for Northwest zoos over the three-month period. To date, HomeStreet has contributed over $130,000 to the zoos through this program.

HomeStreet has added a new feature this year, “Ten for You, Ten for the Zoo,” a special savings account offer for children 18 and under. When a child’s savings account is opened for $50 or more, HomeStreet adds $10 to the child’s account and donates $10 to the regional zoo.

“ Parks and open spaces play a vital role in making our communities livable now and for future generations,” said Kathryn Williams, senior vice president and community relations director for HomeStreet Bank. “We’re excited to build on the success of last year’s program and partner again with three community organizations that are not only regional treasures but also do such wonderful work in education and conservation.”

HomeStreet Bank is one of the largest privately-owned banks in the Northwest. For more than 80 years, HomeStreet has actively partnered with local organizations through employee volunteer service, charitable contributions, products and services and sponsorships. Each year, HomeStreet donates at least two percent of pre-tax profits to organizations in the community.
