What:
Beginning Friday, April 2, 2004, Woodland Park Zoo will make available to the public the 2003 Annual Report to the Superintendent. The 30-day review and comment period on the Draft Annual Report will close midnight, May 1, 2004. The Annual Report recaps the prior year’s activities for the Superintendent of Seattle Parks and Recreation.

The 2003 Annual Report to the Superintendent is the second in a series of annual reports required by the Zoo Operations and Management Agreement between the City of Seattle and the Woodland Park Zoological Society. The Annual Report is required to provide: a summary of zoo operations for the prior year; a financial accounting for all funds, including use of Pro Parks Levy proceeds and major maintenance funding; a list of all capital investments made at the zoo; an evaluation of zoo performance in the area of customer service; a description of the zoo’s ethics and conflict of interest policy, and compliance with that policy.

How:
Interested individuals may access the 2003 Annual Report through Woodland Park Zoo’s Web site, and during regular zoo hours, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at Woodland Park Zoo’s Education Center near the South Gate at N. 50th St. & Fremont Ave. N.

Written comments on the 2003 Annual Report may be mailed to: Woodland Park Zoo, 601 N. 59th St., Seattle, WA 98103, “Attention: Mimi Haley-2003 Annual Report Comments.” Comments may also be submitted electronically, accessible from the 2003 Annual Report Web page. The Final Annual Report will respond to all comments postmarked by midnight, May 1, 2004.
