Seattle - Seattle-based HomeStreet Bank and Woodland Park Zoo are partnering for a second year on “Wild About Zoos,” a three-month promotion to raise money to support zoo programs and operations. From May 1 through July 31, HomeStreet Bank will donate $10 to Woodland Park Zoo for every bank account, mortgage, loan, and insurance policy opened at branches in Snohomish and King County. Last year, the promotion raised $54,780 for Northwest zoos over a six-month period. This year, HomeStreet Bank is doubling the dollar amount donated per new account. “HomeStreet Bank is committed to supporting parks and open spaces for the long-term health of our communities,” said Kathryn Williams, Senior Vice President and Community Relations Director of HomeStreet Bank. “Building on the success of last year’s campaign, we’re excited to again partner with an organization that fills such an important need in our community.” Woodland Park Zoo is an award-winning zoo that is highly respected for its conservation efforts worldwide. Featuring hundreds of rare and endangered animal species and a vast variety of plant species, the 103-year-old institution has become a long-standing treasure in the region, serving people of all ages and backgrounds. The zoo is open every day of the year. “Today’s zoos play a critical role in wildlife conservation,” noted Woodland Park Zoo President and CEO Dr. Deborah B. Jensen. “Partnerships such as this with HomeStreet Bank help to ensure that children and their families are learning about the wonders of nature and how we each can be a part of sustaining wild animals and wild places.” HomeStreet Bank is one of the largest privately-owned banks in the Northwest. For more than 80 years, HomeStreet has actively partnered with local organizations through employee volunteer service, charitable contributions, products and services, and sponsorships. Each year, HomeStreet donates 2% of its pre-tax profits to organizations in the community.
