What:
On Wednesday, December 31, 2003, Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation,
acting as the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) lead agency,
is issuing the Final Revised Environmental Impact Statement (FREIS)
on a proposed long-range plan for Woodland Park Zoo, referred to
as the Long-Range Physical Development Plan 2002 (LRPDP 2002). LRPDP
2002 would amend the original 1976 Long-Range Plan for the zoo, last
amended in 1987. The FREIS consists of two volumes: Volume 1: EIS
Summary and Text and Volume 2: Appendices, Including Comments and
Responses. The responses are to agency and public comments received
on the Draft Revised EIS, issued July 16, 2003.
How:
Copies of the Final Revised EIS and Draft LRPDP 2002 may be reviewed or purchased
beginning December 31 at the zoo administrative office at Building No. 1,
601 N. 59th Street, Seattle, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and
5:00 p.m. The cost for copies purchased at the zoo administrative office
is $24.00 for Volume 1 of the Final Revised EIS, $14.00 for Volume 2, and
$15.00 for Draft LRPDP 2002. Copies may also be ordered by calling 206.615.1030.
An additional $5.00 per order will be charged for handling and mailing phone
orders.
Beginning
December 31, the Final Revised EIS and Draft LRPDP 2002 are also available
for review at the, Ballard, Fremont, Wallingford, and
Downtown branches of the
Seattle Public Library; and at the City’s Ballard, Fremont, and Greenwood
neighborhood service centers.
In addition, the Fact Sheet, Table of Contents, and Summary of the Final Revised
EIS, as well as an overview of LRPDP 2002 prepared by the zoo, are available
for review beginning December 31 on the zoo’s
Web site.
In
accordance with Seattle Municipal Code Section 25.05.680.B, any appeal of
the adequacy of the FREIS must be in writing and be delivered to the
Office
of the Hearing Examiner, Room 1320, Alaska Building, 618 Second Avenue, Seattle,
WA 98104, no later than 5:00 p.m., January 15, 2004, and be accompanied by
a
$50.00 filing fee in a check payable to the City of Seattle. (The Hearing
Examiner may waive the appeal fee if payment would cause financial
hardship.) Information
