5: Hear Dave Foreman, one of America’s most famous conservation thinkers and leaders, describe a vision of the future when wilderness is so broadly linked that wild creatures like grizzly bears can roam from Mexico to Alaska. Foreman is perhaps best known as a co-founder of Earth First! and was named by Audubon magazine as one of the 100 Champions of Conservation of the 20th Century. The lecture will take place at the zoo’s Education Center near the zoo’s South Gate at N. 50th St. and Fremont Ave. N. Prices are $8 per lecture. 27: Feast among the beasts with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at the zoo’s Rain Forest Food Pavilion! Tear into a traditional Thanksgiving feast and afterwards walk off your full tummy with a wildlife adventure throughout the zoo! Advance reservations and pre-payment required. Cost: In addition to zoo admission: $27.03 per person; $14.13 for children ages 3-10; free for children 2 years and under. 3: Scott Silver is a leader in understanding jaguar habitat needs in the rainforest. Come hear how his highly successful jaguar survey has produced critical information about one of the most important jaguar strongholds left in the world. Only by understanding jaguars and what they need in their habitats can we find a way for jaguars and people to coexist. 6,7: On Saturday and Sunday, the zoo’s Rain Forest Food Pavilion offers a delightful buffet breakfast, Santa photos and a mini-performance of The Nutcracker. Following your fill of breakfast delectables, take an adventure around the world and discover the different habitats of the zoo’s wildlife. Buffet features an omelet station, scrambled eggs, potatoes, crepes, bacon and sausage, Danishes, mini-muffins, fresh fruit and beverages. Advance reservations and pre-payment required.
