Fort Worth, TX - Bruce Bohmke, Deputy Director and General Curator of Woodland Park Zoological Gardens in Seattle, Washington, has received the American Zoo and Aquarium Association’s (AZA) “Outstanding Service Award.” Mr. Bohmke accepted the award at a special presentation today during AZA’s 78th Annual Conference.

The Service Award recognizes Bohmke’s outstanding leadership on the Animal Data Information Systems Committee (ADISC) Project, especially his work as the chair of that committee, and his years of dedication and continued support of AZA and its mission. AZA President John Lewis says, “Bruce is a highly regarded and distinguished member of the association. I commend his high standard of professionalism and service.”

AZA was founded in 1924 and currently represents 205 zoos and aquariums throughout North America. AZA’s mission is to support membership excellence in wildlife conservation, education, science and recreation.
