Zoo to carve a thousand pumpkins for new Pumpkin Prowl

What:
How do you carve a thousand pumpkins for Pumpkin Prowl at Woodland Park Zoo? With lots of scoops, carving tools, stencils and Halloween spirit…On Wednesday, October 23, watch a team of zoo staff and volunteers transform hundreds and hundreds of pumpkins into amazing animals, patriotic symbols, bats, cats, spiders, witches, traditional jack-o’-lanterns and more.

The lighted pumpkins will be featured on pathways and throughout the Family Farm for throngs of costumed trick-or-treaters and families at the zoo’s new, after-hours event, Pumpkin Prowl, held October 25-27.

When:
Pumpkin carving: Wednesday, October 23, noon-3:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m..

Where:
Pumpkin carving, noon-3:00 p.m.: behind Woodland Park Zoo’s Butterflies & Blooms exhibit. Enter through the ARC near the West Gate at N. 55th St. &
Phinney Ave. N.

Pumpkin carving, 6:00-9:00 p.m.: Rain Forest Food Pavilion near the West Gate at N. 55th St. & Phinney Ave. N.

Pumpkin Prowl is Friday, Saturday, Sunday, October 25-27, 5:30-9:30 p.m. at Woodland Park Zoo’s South Gate Plaza and Family Farm. Spooktacular highlights include a thousand lighted pumpkins, sweet stations with treats, a spooky tree, the spellbinding world of insects, scorpions and spiders at “Bug” World, the art of fire by performers Ignis Devoco, performances by Clay Martin’s Puppet Theatre and more.
