SEATTLE - The Woodland Park Zoological Society announces the election of new board members: D. Stuart Ashmun recently retired from Microsoft; Katherine Claypool, Senior Vice President of Bank of America; Mike Doherty, regional NW President of Cole & Weber/Red Cell; Gary T. Giglio, Managing Director of the Goldman, Sachs & Co. Seattle office; Pamela A. Grinter, attorney and CPA with Riddell Williams, P.S.; Jan Hendrickson, owns her own consulting company, clients include: New Balance Athletic Shoe Company, The Boeing Company and PeopleTools; Leslie Kellogg, private investor; Lucy Steers, longtime activist for growth management, land use and housing; and Ron Tilden, Instructor, Business Administration Program, University of Washington, Bothell Branch.

All the new board members are earnest supporters of the zoo and bring great enthusiasm and dedication to its mission, as well as skills necessitated by the Zoo Society's increasing role in the zoo’s management and operation.

The Woodland Park Zoological Society is Woodland Park Zoo’s nonprofit, fundraising partner and contributes to the quality of all aspects of the zoo by promoting public interest in and encouraging greater understanding of wildlife and its conservation and propagation. One of the Zoo Society's many goals is to maintain the zoo's stature as a regional resource and special gathering place for generations of Washington families. Over one million people of all ages and backgrounds visit the zoo to learn more about wildlife and the environment.
