No earthquake damage at Woodland Park Zoo

SEATTLE - Woodland Park Zoo did not sustain any earthquake damage and remained opened to the public, including a number of school groups on field trips. As a safety precaution, the zoo closed all of its indoor exhibits, while the public was allowed to roam the main pathways.

Immediately following the earthquake, the zoo activated its emergency response team (ERT) to assure public and staff safety, to assess any building or exhibit damage, and to confirm that all of its animals were accounted for and uninjured. Zoo-goers wishing to leave to check on their families or homes were given a full refund or zoo voucher for a future visit.
