THIRD ANNUAL JUNGLE LOVE TOUR

WHAT: Back by popular demand, the third annual Jungle Love Tour at Woodland Park ZoWHAT: Back by popular demand, the third annual Jungle Love Tour at Woodland Park Zoo is going to be bigger and better than ever before. Hosted by the zoo’s WildKeepers Club, zoo Associate Veterinarian Dr. Darin Collins returns with his popular slide-illustrated presentation about "assisted reproductive technologies." Zoo entomologist Erin Sullivan also offers close-up encounters with some interesting "love bugs."

Begin your tour with a continental brunch while perusing zoo Discovery Carts filled with fascinating zoo artifacts. Following Dr. Collins’ presentation, you’ll take an extraordinary docent-led tour to exhibits where keepers share fun, interesting facts about love and matchmaking among the zoo’s animal residents.

From pregnant pachyderms to tiny tree kangaroos and twin golden lion tamarins, you’ll learn how Woodland Park Zoo is experimenting with groundbreaking reproduction techniques to enhance breeding of endangered species in zoos.

HOW: Two tours are available with a maximum of 75 people per tour, so space is limited. Reservations are required by calling Christine Bunch at (206) 684-3250 by January 29. Must be 21 or over.

WHEN: Saturday, February 6, 1999

        1st tour: 9:30 a.m. to noon

        2nd tour: 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

WHERE: Meet at Woodland Park Zoo’s Education Center near the South Gate at N. 50th St. and Fremont Ave. N.

COST: Free for WildKeepers Club members and $20 for the general public. The event is also free to those who sign up for a WildKeepers Club membership when making reservations for the Jungle Love Tour.

Annual WildKeepers Club membership is $60 for individuals and $100 for couples. Membership includes free year-round admission to the zoo, invitations to WildKeepers tours and events, zoo newsletter, 10% discount at the ZooStore and free admission to more than 100 zoos in the U.S.

WHO: The WildKeepers Club is a network of professionals in their 20s and 30s dedicated to expanding awareness and encouraging financial support of Woodland Park Zoo and its efforts in conservation and education.
