SENIOR PROGRAMS

Join us for a monthly class just for seniors! Each class will include an educational presentation and a short zoo tour. 

Time: 10:00-11:30 a.m., generally the first Wednesday of every month
Fee: $20/class

*Animal Diets: Meats and Treats will involve more extensive walking as this class will be solely a tour.

Thinking about registering? Please do as soon as you are able. We need a minimum number of registrants offer the class. Classes may cancel up to 1 week prior to the class date.

From the dry shrub forest to the Amazon basin, these fox-like canines inhabit many ecosystems of South America. Learn about these timid creatures and their northern wolf cousins in Washington State.

Join us for an exploration into the complex dietary needs of zoo animals. Reptiles, arthropods, birds and mammals… everyone’s gotta eat! Find out what it takes to feed the zoo’s diverse collection and keep them healthy.
*This class will involve more extensive walking as it is solely a tour.

5325: Saturday, Aug 1, Container Gardening for Health

The zoo grows specific plants for the health and wellbeing of our animals; join us to find out how growing common herbs that can help with a variety of health issues and it is easy! You’ll learn about some herbs, their traditional uses and preparation methods. These gardens can be grown anywhere with full sun at least part of the day! Join us and start gardening for your health.

These silent hunters of the night often aren’t visible for us to observe during the day. Uncover the mysteries of the barred, great grey, snowy, spectacled, western screech, northern saw-whet, barn, pharaoh eagle, and great horned owls! Discover what makes all of these owls unique and reveal the secrets of their diets.
