Join us for a brand new monthly class just for seniors! Each class will include an educational presentation and an activity before heading on grounds for a short zoo tour.

Time: 10:00-11:30 a.m., generally the first Monday of every month
Fee: $20/class

Roaring Lion 

5134: March 3, In Like a Lion

As the saying goes, “in like a lion, out like a lamb.” Learn how our zoo acquires and transfers our beloved animals, especially our lions as our four cubs grow up.  We will venture to the Savanna to see our lions enjoy an enrichment item and then head back to the classroom to make our own lion enrichment item.

What do ruddy ducks, smew, and cinnamon teal all have in common?  They need healthy watersheds and wetlands to thrive. Take a journey in this class to the zoo’s Wetlands exhibit and learn about our feathered friends and the ecosystems they inhabit.

The zoo anxiously awaits the arrival of the fastest land animal on earth, the cheetah!  Liz and Missy will be the newest addition to the zoo’s big cat collection this May.  Find out what it takes to house and care for a cheetah from their exhibit space to their daily diets.
