Volunteer at the Zoo

Making the Decision to Volunteer

Volunteers are essential to Woodland Park Zoo. They assist zoo staff in most aspects of zoo operations and support the zoo in our mission to create a sustainable future for wildlife. If you are dedicated to wildlife conservation and want to put this dedication into practice, we invite you to consider volunteering at Woodland Park Zoo.

Whether you are interested in assisting zoo visitors, presenting education programs, helping zookeepers with animal care, or assisting horticulture staff with maintaining the botanical collection, there are a wide variety of opportunities available.

For teens 14 to 18 years of age, check out the Zoo Corps program

Most volunteer positions require a specific time commitment. Some positions have specific age or previous experience requirements, as noted in the descriptions. All potential applicants are interviewed, and accepted volunteers must complete a new volunteer orientation. Some programs require tuberculosis screening prior to beginning service. Applicants are accepted based upon the needs of the zoo. We welcome your inquiries about our programs and hope you consider applying for a volunteer position!
