Applications are now being accepted for Events Production Intern at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. The Events Production Intern will learn the basic functions of producing events through providing general support to the Events and Group Sales Manager. This is an unpaid position and is open to those 18 years of age and older. Students will be responsible for arranging to receive credit through their university or college. Housing and transportation are the responsibility of the applicant. Interns are subject to a background check.

Summary:
The Event Production Intern provides direct on-site support for all production elements of the zoo’s nine concerts and all private and public events. This includes the following responsibilities:

  • Tracks event status and performs a variety of detail-oriented tasks to ensure event preparedness.
  • Interacts with staff, volunteers, sponsors and vendors in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Acts as a liaison between client and department, as needed.
  • May represent the department at private events, as requested.
  • Performs general office duties: composes correspondence, maintains event software, files, performs database entry, takes dispatch meeting minutes and send reminders.
  • May set up and break down equipment, as needed.

  • Able to work successfully as a team member and independently.
  • Provide high quality customer service to a variety of customers.
  • Ability to work a non-standard/flexible schedule, which may include weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Commitment to the mission of the zoo and the institution’s Core Values.

Education/Experience:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, License and Registrations:
Valid Washington State Driver's License required.

Computer Skills:
Proficiency in, and experience working with: Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook; relational databases; and Internet research.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the intern is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The intern must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision. Must be able to comfortably maneuver on grounds at night and/or without much light
.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the intern is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The intern is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The noise level can be loud to very loud during Concerts and Jungle Party season.
