Canis lupus

Adult Male

Born: April 19, 1995. Twin brother to one of the zoo’s female wolves.

Personality: He seems to be the boldest of the three wolves.

Distinguishing features: Very lean, lanky, all legs and feet. Very dark on his sides with a lighter patch over his shoulders. Dark spot on his chest (this has gotten lighter since we first saw him) and dark patches under his eyes. Dark from the base of his tail part way down, and a dark tip.

Adult Female

Born: April 19, 1995. Twin sister to the zoo’s male wolf.

Personality: She is very shy, but curious. Uses her ears more than the others, i.e., laid back, out to the sides, etc.

Distinguishing features: Very slender and much lighter than her brother. More cream on the muzzle and chest, “fox-looking” face. Black tip on tail.

Adult Female

Born: April 19, 1995. Born on same day as the zoo’s twin wolves, but not related to either of them.

Personality: Carries her head down and looks up from under her brows.

Distinguishing features: Appears to be the largest because of the deep chest and heavier flanks. More uniform gray on the sides, dark spot behind the shoulder blades. Black line down the forehead to between her eyes. Dark spot midway down the tail and a dark tip.
