River Otters
Full-day camp for children ages 7 – 9
DETAILS
Summer Camp
In River Otters, campers spend the day tracking a grizzly bear, traveling through the forests of Borneo and discovering the wild in our very own backyard. Each curriculum has a theme which will develop throughout the week with zoo exploration, activities, games, big body play and empathy building opportunities. Curricula align with age-appropriate learning and development standards with an emphasis on both a camper’s development as a scientist and peer collaboration.
Themes
Tales from the Wild
Storytelling is one of the most human pursuits. And throughout history, animals have featured in many of our tales! In this camp, you’ll learn the real stories of some of our zoo animals’ lives and create animal stories of your own. We’ll create books of poetry and prose, make puppets, and act out a story of each camp group’s own creation.
Eco Expeditions
It’s a wild world out there! The world’s ecosystems—deserts, forests, grasslands, and dozens more—each have their own fascinating wildlife to discover. This camp will range far and wide while staying right here in our beautiful zoo, inspiring the minds and hearts of campers to love the natural world even more.
